The Recipes of Elizabeth Aubrey, Hillview, Penrith - 1870 - 1915
Elizabeth Aubrey (née Masters), my great-great-grandmother, holds a special place in our family history. Originally hailing from Wales, she emigrated to Australia in 1870 with her husband, David Aubrey, to establish roots in Penrith, NSW.
Elizabeth had a passion for poetry and cooking, which she beautifully captured in a scrapbook filled with handwritten recipes, poems, newspaper clippings, and personal anecdotes. We are fortunate to possess a copy of this cherished compilation. However, it's important to note that we do not endorse the effectiveness of these recipes for baking or health remedies.
We take no responsibility for any culinary mishaps or health issues that may arise from attempting these recipes. Readers are advised to exercise caution and understand that this booklet serves as a historical document, showcasing Victorian-era cooking methods, ingredients, and menus, rather than a guide for modern cooking.
